What Is Naviance?
Filling Out Resume

It is important to fill out your resume and to continue to update it throughout high school.  It is important to have on Naviance for your teachers when they are writing your college Letter of Recommendation. Plus when you start applying for jobs you'll have everything in an accessible place. It is good to enter information about Volunteer service, extracurricular activities(athletics and clubs), job experience, awards and certificates, and what ever else makes you unique.

​Naviance is the place for all things college.  Some of you may not have logged on to Naviance since you created an account freshman year.  However throughout the college process you will be logging onto it more and more.  The South Windsor School Counseling Department has made Naviance a great resource for South Windsor Students, so you should use all that it has to offer.

At the beginning of senior year this is just one of the tasks that you need to complete.  These sheets are accessed through Naviance and must be completed by you and your parents.  These forms are important, because your Counselor will use them to write a letter of recommendation.

You will need to ask two of your teachers to write you letter of recommendations for college.  You should ask them in person, rather than through email. And it would be good to ask them before the end of Junior year.  Then during senior year you will need to send them a formal request through Naviance that will allow them to access your account to submit your letter. This is a very important step in the process, so the School Counseling Office will remind you to do this during one of their meetings.

Important Things

There are many reasons why we use Naviance, including Senior Brag Sheet and Teacher Recommendations.  You can also use it to access Method Test Prep and Keep up to date with the school college visits and college application requirements.  It is also a great place to make a to-do list or set up goals for the future.

After you make a Common App Account for college applications it is very important that you link it with your Naviance account so that the applications will be able to access your Letters of Recommendation
